Focolare is a ministry of spiritual and social renewal that provides formation to parish ministries while respecting and valuing diversity. It has a commitment to building bridges and relationships of fraternity among individuals, peoples and cultural worlds and uses dialogue as a method of bringing about unity. Servant of God, Chiara Lubich has described the movement as, “a people born of the Gospel”.
The Focolare movement was begun in Europe in 1943 but St. Patrick’s Focolare has had a chapter since 2007. The group meets on the 4th Sunday of every month, from 12:30 pm to 3:00pm. During the meeting, members will discuss and meditate on the month’s Word of Life which is a sentence of scripture, complete with commentary, that is offered as a monthly guide and inspiration for daily life. Most members of the St. Patrick’s Focolare movement are leaders of their own respective ministries but persons of every age, vocation, conviction and culture are welcome.
